Netanyahu Lights Eighth Hanukkah Candle in Jerusalem, Emphasizing Unity and Hope

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu lit the eighth Hanukkah candle at the Prime Minister’s Office in Jerusalem, marking the final night of the festival. Joined by Chabad.org representatives, he highlighted Hanukkah’s message of light, peace, and communal unity.

Jerusalem, Israel — Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu marked the culmination of Hanukkah celebrations on Sunday evening by lighting the eighth and final candle at the Prime Minister’s Office in Jerusalem, underscoring the festival’s enduring message of light, resilience, and communal harmony.

The ceremony, held at the official residence complex, was attended by representatives of Chabad.org, who joined the prime minister in observing the traditional ritual. The event formed part of the annual Hanukkah observances, which commemorate the triumph of faith and perseverance and are symbolized by the lighting of the menorah over eight nights.

During the candle-lighting, Netanyahu reflected on the deeper meaning of Hanukkah, describing the festival as a powerful symbol of light prevailing over darkness. He highlighted its relevance as a reminder of peace, spiritual strength, and unity within society, particularly during challenging times. The prime minister emphasized that the tradition carries a universal message that extends beyond religious observance, reinforcing shared values of hope and solidarity.

The presence of Chabad.org representatives at the ceremony reflected the organization’s longstanding role in promoting Jewish cultural and religious life worldwide, particularly during major festivals. Their participation added a communal dimension to the official observance at the Prime Minister’s Office.
